A LIST

BY: ARNOLD LOBEL

Look at the pictures. What do you think will happen?

Part 1: Pages 4-5

What was Toad doing (p.4)? (making a list)

Why was he making a list (p.4)? (he had a lot of things to do today and needed to remember everything)

What did he do once he had finished a task (p.5)? (he crossed it off of his list)

What do you think will happen next?

Part 2: Pages 6-9

What was the next thing on Toad’s list (p.6-7)? (Eat Breakfast)

Why do you think Toad put the list in his pocket (p.8)? (So he would not lose his list)

Where did Toad go (p.9)? (Frog’s House)

What do you think will happen now?

Part 3: Pages 10-13

What did the list tell Frog and Toad to do (p.10)? (Go for a walk)

What happened when Toad was crossing out an item on his list (p.12) (the wind blew it out of his hand)

What does Toad ask (p.13)? (What will I do without my list?)

What do you think Frog and Toad will do?

Part 4: Pages 14-15

What did Frog want to do (p.14)? (Run and Catch the list)

Why didn’t Toad want to do this (p.14)? (Because that was not a task on his list)

Why was Toad feeling “BLAH” (p.15)? (because he had lost his list and Frog could not catch it)

What do you think Frog and Toad will do now?

Part 5: Pages 16-17

Why was Toad so upset (p.16)? (Because he could not remember any of the things that was on his list)

What was the last thing that was on Toad’s list (p.17) (Go to sleep)

Why do you think Toad wrote on the ground (p.17) ( because he didn’t have his list but he wanted to complete it)

What did Toad mean when he said his day was all crossed out (p.17)? (He had completed all of the things that was on his list)

How do you think Toad feels now? Why?
